Terminator Salvation (movie)
This movie should have been named “Terminator Babies” because it’s a prequel featuring younger versions of some of your favorite Terminator characters. Anton Yelchin (RIP) looks, sounds, and acts like a young Kyle Reese as portrayed by Michael Biehn in the first flick, and that’s cool. There are some nice practical effects here and there.
But beyond that, Terminator Salvation sucks. Nothing of consequence happens and most characters seem to lack any sense. Go watch Terminator Genisys instead. Please.

The Terminator (movie)
The first Terminator movie is a little different from the ones that followed: it’s still a sci-fi action flick, but there’s quite a bit of horror thrown in the mix. But you probably knew that. The movie holds up reasonably well for its age. The one-liners are so quotable that I’d use them daily if I thought that I could get away with it.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day (movie)
I’d say that T2 is arguably one of the greatest action movies ever, but have you heard anyone say otherwise? HAVE YOU?
The movie speaks for itself! Watch it!
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (movie)
T3 is a silly movie in so many ways. T2 and T1 (to a lesser extent) had comic relief moments, but T3 is basically an action sci-fi comedy. The comedy occasionally works, and some of the fight scenes are fairly entertaining, but feel free to skip this one. It just doesn’t have the heart of the previous two films.
Terminator: Genisys (movie)
After watching T3, I had fairly low expectations for Terminator: Genisys. I knew the premise was cool, but that never stopped a movie from sucking.
Genisys was a pleasant surprise. It starts out rather slow as the film takes a surprising amount of time to explain the whole “murderbots want humans dead” thing, but once it gets going, it gets going. The action scenes are cool, I enjoyed the plot, and I even laughed at most of the jokes.
If you liked T1 and T2, I think that you’ll enjoy Terminator: Genisys.

BoxBoy! (3DS)
This is a fun little puzzle game from HAL Laboratory. I still near the beginning of the game, but it has presented a few head-scratches already. The challenge levels are especially tough, so I’m interested to see how hard later levels get.
Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball
This is, as far as I’m concerned, the successor to Logitech’s Trackman Wheel. I use a M570 at work, and it feels just as good as the Trackman Wheel. It’s wireless, but I have no complaints about response time or crosstalk.
My Trackman Wheel is busted, so I miss my M570 a little bit when I’m not at work.

Sega 3D Classics Collection (3DS)
This is quite an eclectic mix of games that play wonderfully on the 3DS. I’ve only spent a short amount of time with it, and the only disappointment is Thunder Blade. I don’t have a Circle Pad Pro or a New 3DS, so I had to use the touchscreen which was not enjoyable. But other than that, I have no complaints! Check it out if you’re interested in Sega classics.

Nintendo Badge Arcade (3DS)
This is a free-to-play crane game where you play for badges that you can put on your home menu. If that sounds lousy, avoid this game. I spent $2 and caught Splatoon badges for my home screen, so I’m okay with this game existing.
Midway Arcade Origins (360)
I only put a few minutes into it, but the version of Smash TV on here is horrible because it does not have music. So far, I say “stick with Midway Arcade Treasures 1 & 2.”
Kiss of the Dragon (Movie)
Jet Li practices martial arts and magical acupuncture in this 2001 motion picture. It’s quite an unveven movie with soaring highs and disappointing lows. The action scenes were great, and seeing them made me want to check out more of Jet Li’s movies. On the other hand, the exposition could have used some serious trimming. Oh yeah, and do be warned that every woman in this movie is a prostitute. Go figure.
Bloodsport (Movie) and Universal Solider (Movie)
To make these thoughts even quicker, here’s a review of two movies at once! They’re solid action flicks, they star JCVD, and it’s likely that you’ve already seen them if you read this site.
Hard Target (Movie)
I watched this movie for two reasons:
- It was John Woo’s American directoral debut
- It starred Jean-Claude Van Damme
For me, it delivered on both of those fronts. But it gets even better: Lance Henriksen and Wilford Brimley were in this movie, they were excellent! I don’t know that I can recommend Hard Target enough - check it out!

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PC)
This is a fun little FPS game that was released in 2013!!! If you’re, like me, tired of the typical FPS game that comes out these days, give this one a shot.

Rayman Legends (Wii U)
This was part of the reason why I bought a Wii U. I loved Rayman Origins and its sequel was going to be a Wii U exclusive. Ubisoft changed their mind and released Rayman Legends for every console. And that’s for the best - it means more people get to play this great game!
I previously wrote about Rayman Legends back in 2014 (around two years ago to the day!), and I like it more now than I did then. The Murfy levels play like autoscrollers on the Wii U, and they’re not the most exciting parts of the game, but they do provide a decent change of pace to keep things fresh.
Hyrule Warriors (Wii U)
I think that this game made me a fan of the Warrriors series. It combines Legend of Zelda stylings with light character action, RTS, and RPG elements, and that combination stayed fresh with me even after finishing the main story mode of the game.
Thinking about Hyrule Warriors makes me want to play more of it, but there are many other games for me to get through.
Transformers: Devastation (PC)
Transformers are cool. Platinumgames is cool. If you agree, you need to play this game.
I’m not sure how easy this game is for more casual gamers to get through. I beat it on Normal without much trouble, but I’ve played many similar games so I’m not one to ask.

The Legend of Korra (PC)
This Legend of Korra game is a lot of fun for its buck. Its regular price is $14.99, and you can regularly get it at a good discount if you wait for a big Steam sale.
That being said, it is a game defined by its price point. The action isn’t as deep as Transformers: Devastation’s gameplay, and the theatrics aren’t your typical level of Platinumgames insanity for a large part of the adventure.
The final boss is fairly insane.
Check this game out sometime. Or at least a video of that boss fight.
Out There Somewhere (PC)
This is a tiny platformer - I beat it in 67 minutes. I recommend Out There Somewhere if you like small indie puzzle platformer games.
